Chickamauga, Georgia is a town small in size
yet huge in History and Southern Pride.
It is the
location of the last victory for the South during
the Civil War and is proud to keep that history
alive and well today and for
future generations.
There is such a sense of community here and
always something to do -- anything from
carriage rides to steam engine excursions.

In the
midst of it all you will find Old Southern Charm that simply cannot be
duplicated elsewhere today. Come take a stroll down memory lane at Scarlett’s Tea Room located at the
corner of Thomas Avenue and Gordon Street, right across from the Historic Chickamauga Depot.
|
|
As if Scarlett’s Tea Room were not charming enough, her history has an
allure as fascinating as Scarlett herself.
This “Southern Belle” lay sleeping for many years before a
delightful couple awakened her and made her the Belle of the Ball. For Don and Cindy, it was “love at first sight.”

Don and Cindy share a strong love of antiques:
“from the primitive to the Victorian and everything in
between.” Don had always
dreamed of living in a city and owning his own shop.
Cindy had always wanted a Victorian-era home.
Since the building had been built in 1889 as the first commercial
brick building in the city of Chickamauga and had served for many years as
a general store carrying “everything from horse collars to ladies
hats,” Don and Cindy knew at once that they had found “Home”!
|
|
Don and Cindy have made the second floor into an apartment for themselves
and plan to transform the additional space into a future “Bed and
Brunch.” They have restored
the first floor general store into an antique shop where they offer
“Treasures of the past” or, as Don likes to say:
“Primitives are our specialty.”
Scarlett’s Tea Room is also located on the first floor and you
are always sure to find a warm welcome and good food.
In fact, Don and Cindy have been pleasantly surprised and
overwhelmed by the huge response they have had from local, out-of-town and
even out-of-state visitors.

Cindy says, “ We enjoy visiting with all of the many interesting people
that stop by and we are delighted to be a part of the growing gift and
antique community of Chickamauga. We are not out to promote ourselves but rather the town and
its many historical and community events.
Chickamauga has always been a wonderful town for those fortunate
enough to live here. We hope
to offer an enhancement that will attract others to the area so that they
will see that this is not just a noteworthy place to visit but also a
great place to live!”
|
|
A
wise man once told Don: “Find something that you love to do and you’ll never work
a day in your life.” Don
and Cindy have always taken that to heart.
They humbly say, “It’s not about getting rich.
It’s about being happy and following your dreams.
After all ‘Home is where you hang your dreams!’
